Migrating work to 8.3: |

| >>CLICK HERE TO ACCESS OUR INSTALLATION VIDEOS |
| BCAD Services recommends keeping your work in previous versions of BuildersCAD SEPARATE from your work in 8.3 until you've tested the functionality of 8.3 on your PC -- including plotting, DWG/DWF translation, etc. >>When you go through the installation, you will be prompted to name a user folder or accept the default. If at this time you change the default from C:/BCAD to C:/BCAD83, BuildersCAD will handle the rest for you. IF YOU MISSED THE PROMPT: 1 -- After you install 8.3 go to the Windows Start>>Programs>>Bcad 83>>Config. This opens the arris.ini file in Notepad. You will see a setting: GRUSRS=C:\BCAD. Change this setting to read: GRUSRS=C:\BCAD83. 2 -- After you do this, when you start BuildersCAD 8.3 it will create your user home folder inside C:\Bcad83 which will keep the work you do in 8.3 separate from the work you've been doing in 8.1 (or 8.0, etc.). |

| Installing the download: |
| 1 -- Download the software from: http://www.builderscad.com/downloads.ht ml 2 -- When the download menu comes up, be sure to click the "Save" button and note where on your computer you are saving it to. 3 -- Once the zip file is downloaded, open it and extract the setup.exe. Double click on the setup.exe file to install BuildersCAD 8.3. Allow 8.3 to download to the unique Programs subfolder that it creates, so it does not overwrite previous versions of BuildersCAD. 4 -- Your authorization codes will be sent to you by e-mail or fax. 5 -- Don't forget to copy over your set-ups from your old BCAD user folder to your new BCAD83 user folder. (So you can access your custom RI libraries, etc.) 6 -- BuildersCAD documentation -- the Learning Guide, Tutorial, Encyclopedia, and installation & authorization instructions -- is updated and is part of the BuildersCAD 8.3 installation. |

| Using eZ and the eZviewer |
| The eZviewer incorporated into BuildersCAD version 8 has been rendered obsolete. To keep using this feature, download and install the latest version of eZ. 1 -- After downloading the file, install the program IN YOUR PROGRAM FILES – NOT IN THE BUILDERSCAD FOLDER. 2 -- After you install the program, double click the eZ icon on your desktop and you will see a page with an option to register (or to log-in as an existing user). Register for eZ, and eZ will automatically authorize for a one day trial. For that day, you will have access to all features including desktop sharing. After that, it will still run in free viewer mode. The functionality is very much like the old eZviewer. (Don't forget that you can export raster files directly from BuildersCAD 8.3.) Launch eZ first, then minimize it, and you can for the rest of your work session dynamically view your BuildersCAD or ARRIS drawings in 3D by selecting the "eyeball" icon at the bottom of the display window in BuildersCAD (or ARRIS). |

| The Translator: |
| To use your existing translator: If you're running versions 7.3 or 7.4 of the Expert Translator, download and re-install the latest update for the version you use, and re-enter your codes in the Expert InfoCAD Authcode Manager. Note: You must be on the Expert InfoCAD subscription program to be eligible for version 7.4. Download the latest version of the translator from here> Older versions of the translator (versions 7.2 and prior) will work in BuildersCAD 8.3. You'll need to copy over the translator program folder to the BCAD83 program folder and enter the authcodes in the BCAD83 authcode manager. If you have questions, or would like information on upgrading your translator, contact us at info@bcadservices.com. |
